Ronda Harris Hines

Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Officer, Year Up United

Ronda Harris Hines is the Chief Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Officer of Year Up United, a national workforce development organization committed to expanding access to economic opportunity for all young adults and providing talent, business, and community solutions to reshape the world of work.

As Chief DEIB Officer, Ronda drives strategy that fosters belonging and builds a thriving multiracial and multicultural organization at Year Up United. She is charged with building the infrastructure, policies, and practices that promote an inclusive environment for all stakeholders.

Ronda joined Year Up United in 2007 and has served in several critical capacities, including Executive Director of Year Up National Capital Region for four years, where she grew the site by 50% and led the region’s expansion to become the first dual channel markets; and Senior Director of Program and Academics where she implemented a groundbreaking dual enrollment partnership with Northern Virginia Community College which laid the foundation for all of Year Up United’s community college partnerships.

Prior to her role as Chief DEIB Officer, Ronda served as the first National Director of Alumni Relations where she was responsible for building Year Up United’s national alumni strategy to ensure the tens of thousands of alumni are advancing in their careers and education, contributing to Year Up United, and taking action in the Opportunity Movement.

Before joining Year Up United, Ronda held several positions maximizing her youth development, leadership and managerial expertise, and passion for cultivating inclusive work cultures. Ronda served as Deputy Director for City Year in Washington, D.C., where she oversaw the site’s program operations, training, corps member support, service initiatives and the management and compliance of the annual $10M Federal Grant. Other positions include Public Information Office and Acting Director of the Public Affairs Office of the District of Columbia Housing Authority and Public Affairs Specialist for the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Ronda, a native Washingtonian, graduated from Bowie State University, the oldest Historically Black College/University in Maryland, with a B.S. in Psychology and holds a MSA in Organizational Development.
